I am proud to say that the state I live in, the state of Maine, has voted to allow same-sex couples to legally marry. I know this is a hotly contested topic, with heated discussion on both sides of the fence, but I want to support equality for all on this blog and I am happy that has been achieved tonight. Congratulations to Maryland also bringing equality to your state! As I am writing this, both Minnesota and Washington are still taking in results, and the race is very close.
I will be so excited to see the same-sex couples in Maine and Maryland exercising their right to a wonderful wedding just as all the great heterosexual weddings we see on the blogs. I hope this is a step toward acceptance of all people and love towards all races, creeds, and sexual orientations. I hope all the Mainers can say where they were when Maine made history.
Thank you to everyone who voted in this election! It was a late night for us news people, but an exciting process!
EDIT: Same-sex marriage has been voted in in Washington as well as NOT illegal in Minnesota! Congrats to all four states! Celebrate love!
